Virtual reality training with real-time feedback
Simulation and virtual reality (VR) provide trainees with an opportunity to gain hands-on practice, allowing physicans to reach high standards of proficiency by practicing procedural and patient management skills before treating real patients. This brings enormous benefits: in a study of operating room performance, Alan C. Yeung found that "Fellows who had received simulation training made six times fewer objectively intra-operative errors, and performed essential procedures 30% faster that those who underwent standard training".
